NCRTC completes construction of research lab for IIFSR in Meerut

Meerut: The National Capital Regional Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has successfully completed the construction of a research lab building for the Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research (IIFSR) in Modipuram, Meerut. This structure has been crafted to serve as a state-of-the-art research facility. NCRTC is soon set to hand it over to IIFSR management for equipment installation and other final touches. For the construction of the viaduct on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor alignment in the Modipuram area, NCRTC had acquired land from IIFSR. In exchange for this land, an agreement was established between the two institutions, leading to the construction of the research lab building and a guest house on the IIFSR campus.The guest house construction has already been completed and handed over to the institute, while the handover process for the research lab building is underway. "Spanning an area of approximately 1200 square meters, this two-storey research laboratory is designed to accommodate four instrumentation rooms, a soil physiology laboratory with low-heat walls, a soil chemical laboratory, a modular biological laboratory, microbiology and pathology laboratories, dry and wet reagent storage areas, a museum, an autoclave and sterilization chamber, an incubation chamber, a bio-chemical laboratory, a scientists room, a digestion chamber, a fume hood chamber, and a meeting hall with 89 seats, among other facilities. All these rooms are equipped with air conditioning and fans to maintain the required temperature conditions," said CPRO, NCRTC Puneet Vats.A green area has been incorporated around the lab building to enhance its aesthetics, and accessibility has been ensured with the construction of a path. Farmers are being taught methods such as polyhouse farming, drip irrigation farming, retractable greenhouse farming, and hydroponics. The training sessions will benefit around 1,500 farmers in 52 villages along the corridor. NCRTC officials believe that these modern farming techniques will help farmers increase their earnings and adapt to the changing demography in the region.Air quality lab building by next year: BSPCBConstruction has begun on an air quality laboratory building in Patna, India. The laboratory will be used by the Bihar State Pollution Control Board and is expected to be completed by the end of next year. The multi-disciplinary laboratory will have facilities for sample collection and testing, dedicated space for scientists, and a conference room. The entire premises will be certified as a green building. The project is being carried out by the Industrial Development Authority and is estimated to cost around Rs 16 crore.
