Woman returns from Pakistan, seeks share of property from brother

Meerut: Asim Beg, 42, a resident of Lisari Gate area, filed a police complaint, alleging that he was being harassed and threatened by his sister Shabnam, 45, to give her a share of ancestral property. Shabnam was married in Pakistans Rawalpindi district in 2006 and had been staying there ever since, coming back only occasionally.According to Asim Beg, a manufacturer of spare parts of musical instruments, he had nine siblings and their father worked hard to arrange the marriage of Asims eight sisters."A manufacturer of musical instruments, my father sold his property and distributed the proceeds among his children. He stayed with me until he died in 2014. I built my own house in 50 sq yards but Shabnam thinks I took all my fathers remaining possessions, which is incorrect. Now, shes demanding lakhs of rupees from me." According to police sources, Shabnam is still an Indian citizen.Kotwali CO Amit Rai said, "We have received the complaint and called them to the police station but the woman hasnt turned up. We have asked both to come again."
