Jani claimed to have set up nearly 48 such hoardings in Meerut and on Delhi-Dehradun highway near colleges where Kashmiri students study in a huge number. It should be noted that after the hoardings came up, the central government as well as the district administration had stepped in to ensure safety of Kashmiri students. "The anti-Kashmiri hoardings were set up by Uttar Pradesh Navnirman Seva chief Amit Jani in what he called a "protest against the Kashmiris who pelt stones on soldiers of the Indian army". MEERUT: Two days after hoardings with warning to Kashmiris to leave UP (Kashmiriyon Uttar Pradesh chodo, varna../Kashmiris leave UP or face consequences) came up in Meerut and on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in vicinity of colleges here, Meerut police arrested the man behind these hoardings on Saturday late night.Giving the details, Deepak Sharma, station house officer, Partapur police station, said, "A police team was made to arrest Amit Jani - the man who was behind putting up these hoardings - and they succeeded in arresting them while he was on his way from Delhi to Meerut on Saturday late night. He had said that under this protest, his party members will go on to bring awareness among the people in UP and ask them to boycott Kashmiris - by not giving them milk, water, rented accommodations. One of the hoardings near Subharti University was removed by Meerut police under Partapur police station and Jani was booked under IPC 153 (b) (promoting enmity between two groups).
