Eid tragedy: 4 youths killed while performing bike stunt in Meerut

“They were performing stunts on a bike they had recently purchased. Many youngsters were performing stunts on their bikes without wearing helmets. These youngsters were also doing it, performing risky stunts without wearing any kind of protection. “The youths were out on the streets late at night, with thousands of other people celebrating Eid. The bike did not turn as they intended and they crashed into a divider straight ahead.

Meerut: Early on Monday morning, four youths speeding on a motorcycle lost control and crashed into a divider in the city, resulting in the death of three on the spot, while the fourth succumbed to his injuries in the hospital a few hours later. According to the police, the bikers were attempting stunts at high speeds and when they approached a turn, they lost control of the vehicle and collided with the divider.The incident happened at around 4 am on Monday. “The youths were out on the streets late at night, with thousands of other people celebrating Eid. Many youngsters were performing stunts on their bikes without wearing helmets. These youngsters were also doing it, performing risky stunts without wearing any kind of protection. And there were four of them on one bike. Their bodies have been handed over to their families,” said a police official.The youngsters, identified as Anas Khan (18), Mohd Abdullah (19), Mohd Shahnawaz (16) and Akram Saifi (22) died due to severe head injuries. “They were performing stunts on a bike they had recently purchased. They came from the Budhana Gate area and were going towards Baccha Park, when they attempted to take a turn at high speed. The bike did not turn as they intended and they crashed into a divider straight ahead. The bikers were thrown many metres into the air and then fell on the ground head-first. The injuries were so bad that three of them died on the spot, while one of them passed away in the hospital,” said Ranvijay Singh, circle officer, Kotwali.
