Meerut: Despite the Yogi Adityanath government’s nod to allow distribution of school bags with pictures of Akhilesh Yadav on them, zealous officials have blackened the face of the former CM on hundreds of such school bags being distributed to students in Bulandshahr. However, it was soon noticed that the picture of Akhilesh Yadav on the bags was ‘blackened’ with paint. After the news spread, Samajwadi Party members staged a protest and demanded an inquiry into the incident. Since the new academic session for state government schools started on April 1, some of the one lakh bags that were originally to be distributed in Bulandshahr started being given away. Rajdeep Vikal, president of Meerut unit of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, said, “If the BJP government was so apprehensive about distributing bags with Akhilesh Yadav’s picture on it, they should have refused to do so in the fist place. But this is a cheap trick to be played.By blackening the face of Akhilesh Yadav on the school bags, a former chief minister has been insulted and a proper inquiry should be conducted into this.”Bulandshahr basic shiksha adhikari Ajit Kumar said, “An inquiry has been set up into the incident and so far nine people have been suspended, including one nyaya panchayat resource coordinator, five assistant block resource coordinators and three headmasters.”
