Cong leader arrested for murder bid on brother

Meerut: Delhi police has arrested Congress leader Chandrashekhar Sharma, who is also the owner of an Agra-based sprawling hotel, from his hometown Bulandshahr in connection with the murder attempt of his younger brother over an alleged property dispute.Speaking to TOI, Kotwali police station in charge Dhananjay Mishra said, “Sharma was arrested by Delhi STF on Saturday. He too fought assembly election in 2007, but was later expelled from the party. Because of his overspending nature, my husband used to scold him often. My husband also got them well-settled.

Meerut: Delhi police has arrested Congress leader Chandrashekhar Sharma, who is also the owner of an Agra-based sprawling hotel, from his hometown Bulandshahr in connection with the murder attempt of his younger brother over an alleged property dispute.Speaking to TOI, Kotwali police station in charge Dhananjay Mishra said, “Sharma was arrested by Delhi STF on Saturday. We had only assisted them.”Although Sharma was arrested on Saturday, Bulandshahr police revealed it on Monday.The Congress leader’s arrest came more than two months after eight members of dreaded Sundar Bhati gang were detained in Delhi on May 2.According to Delhi police sources, during interrogation, one of the gang members disclosed that Sharma had offered an unspecified amount to the gang to kill his younger brother Kishan Sharma and his family.Sharma’s wife Asha, however, refuted the charges, and alleged Kishan of hatching a conspiracy with an aim to gobble up the property worth hundreds of crores of rupees.“My husband (Chandrashekhar) singlehandedly established a business empire and brought up his two brothers. My husband also got them well-settled. Because of his overspending nature, my husband used to scold him often. Taking advantage of my husband’s ill health, Kishan took control of the hotel, and now he wanted acquire the entire property,” Asha claimed.During mid-nineties, Chandrashekhar was a clerk in a small school, and used to work as a contractor to augment his income.Gradually, he started taking up bigger government contracts and also joined Congress, which gave him a ticket to the Lok Sabha in 2004 against former chief minister Kalyan Singh.According to sources, in Bulandshahr, Sharma had ten cases of murder and other crimes against him. His estranged brother Kishan also entered politics and joined BSP. He too fought assembly election in 2007, but was later expelled from the party.
