Bijnor: A policeman in Bijnor allegedly slapped a voter in ward number 14 in the city for creating chaos after he was not allowed to vote as the latter’s face and photo on his voter identity card did not match. The senior police officers somehow pacified the agitators.In a separate incident, five persons were arrested for allegedly casting fake votes in Bhatan mohalla.Giving the details, superintendent of police, Prabhakar Chaudhary, said, “The polls have ended on a peaceful note and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the city. Police had received a complaint that few persons were trying to cast fake votes in Bhatan mohalla. Police are probing the matter. After getting the information, SDM of Chandpur VK Singh reached the spot and pacified the agitators.Meanwhile, BJP leader Sadhvi Prachi reached Dhampur during the poll. An independent candidate Ravi Chaudhary raised objection on her visit. Later on, administration took a serious view of her visit and asked her to leave Dhampur. Eventually, Prachi had to leave Dhampur.According to statistics, there are 18 municipalities and towns here in the district. Of these 17 posts of chairmen were won by minority communities in previous election. Most of them were from SP as Bijnor’s town and cities are Muslim dominated.This time also, there is a tug of war between SP and BJP. However, on few seats, independent candidates seem ahead of other.
