Bent track holds up trains for 25 minutes

Several trains towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) halted for nearly 25 minutes on Wednesday as one of the tracks bent a little at Currey Road station, which sources said was a sign of poor maintenance. Around 2 p.m., a train stopped at Currey Road station. “The track had got bent and hence the train was stopped. We inspected the track after which we allowed services to resume, but with speed restrictions,” a CR official said. The incident had a cascading effect on services on the line, which ran up to 15 minutes late until evening rush hour.

The motorman signalled that there was a problem after which the station master and RPF personnel came to the platform. “The track had got bent and hence the train was stopped. We inspected the track after which we allowed services to resume, but with speed restrictions,” a CR official said. The official said during the time, several slow locals heading for the CSMT were also diverted on to the fast track. The incident had a cascading effect on services on the line, which ran up to 15 minutes late until evening rush hour.
