Loan waiver gains for every member of farmer's family: Maharashtra Government

Increasing the scope of loan waiver package, the state government on Friday, announced that loan waiver benefits could be availed by every member of the farmer's family in case of a separate loan account. Deshmukh informed that with Cabinet decision of increasing scope of loan waiver to every family member Government would have to bear additional burden of Rs 1,000 crore and 5 lakh more account holders would be eligible for the loan waiver benefits. A STAND FOR MANYWith the stand taken by the Cabinet on Thursday, an additional five lakh people will be able to avail loan waiver benefits. He said, many farmers had loan dues of more than Rs 1.5 lakh and they were eligible to avail loan waiver benefits after paying amount which is more than Rs 1.5 lakh to banks. It was his deputy (Minister of State for Cooperation) Gulabrao Patil who informed in state Assembly that a total of 58 lakh farmers have availed loan waiver scheme benefits and Rs 15,882 crore have been disbursed so far.

The decision was taken by the state Cabinet on Thursday, and with its announcement by minister for cooperation Subhash Deshmukh in the state Assembly, an additional five lakh people would be able to avail loan waiver benefits. Deshmukh made a statement in state Assembly thereby giving the information about Cabinet's decision. It was his deputy (Minister of State for Cooperation) Gulabrao Patil who informed in state Assembly that a total of 58 lakh farmers have availed loan waiver scheme benefits and Rs 15,882 crore have been disbursed so far. Patil was replying to a calling attention motion by MLA Prakash Abitkar. Deshmukh informed that with Cabinet decision of increasing scope of loan waiver to every family member Government would have to bear additional burden of Rs 1,000 crore and 5 lakh more account holders would be eligible for the loan waiver benefits.
