Following the arrest of 'cow activist' and right-wing leader Vaibhav Raut (40) by state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Laxmi Raut (39), wife of Vaibhav, has alleged that her entire family was locked inside a room when the ATS first conducted a search at their Nalasopara residence. The officers were very rude to us and on being asked frequently about their search operation, our entire family was locked inside a room for several hours by the ATS officials. She has also alleged that while her family was locked inside, the ATS might have planted some materials at her residence, after which they made a fake seizure. They said that they were taking Vaibhav for questioning, 40 hours later we were told that he has been arrested," Laxmi said. Not even a single piece of document has been shown by the ATS yet including the search warrant and Panchnama copy.

While speaking to DNA, Laxmi said that Vaibhav was arrested on the basis of suspicion and the squad has no concrete evidence against him to prove him guilty in the case. "When the ATS first approached us on August 9 late night, they did not respond to our questions regarding what they were looking for and why were they apprehending Vaibhav. The officers were very rude to us and on being asked frequently about their search operation, our entire family was locked inside a room for several hours by the ATS officials. Our phones were taken away. I got several calls from other family members and relatives, which I was not allowed to answer even after requesting them several times. They said that they were taking Vaibhav for questioning, 40 hours later we were told that he has been arrested," Laxmi said. She has also alleged that while her family was locked inside, the ATS might have planted some materials at her residence, after which they made a fake seizure. She firmly claims that her residence was clean and free from any kind of explosive and also that Vaibhav was being dragged into the case since he was a firm right wing activist and was strictly against cow slaughter in the vicinity. "While the entire nation is celebrating independence day, me and my kids are struggling for Vaibhav's freedom and for that we are even ready to fight till last minute. ATS should be booked for misbehavior and for violation of law as this is not the way any agency should operate in it's office. Not even a single piece of document has been shown by the ATS yet including the search warrant and Panchnama copy. In my written statement submitted to the ATS, I have made by stand clear and I have faith in judiciary and soon Vaibhav shall be set free from all charges imposed on him." Laxmi added. IN THE WRONG
