New Metro site mishap dents MMRDA reputation

The rigger suddenly pulled and hit Yadav on his head.On June 11 this year, a three-year old girl fell into a pit dug for Metro work on the WEH in Goregaon and died.MMRDA sources blamed heavy rain and wind for the latest incident. "It is an unfortunate incident and happened while fixing three-metre-high bottom shutter with Hydra crane at 11.30 am," MMRDA spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar said.On June 17, 2017, similar reinforcement material on the same Metro corridor had collapsed near Shankarwadi in Jogeshwari on the WEH.A few months later, on November 25, a labourer, Hari Om Yadav (21), died during preparation of a pier cap site on the same corridor when a crane malfunctioned while pulling in its rear right outrigger.
