Injured IAS officer brought to Mumbai in green corridor

However, the team bringing Mr. Porwal back to Mumbai struggled manoeuvring through the heavy weekend traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Mr. Porwal suffered multiple fractures in the ribs and injuries to the abdomen. “It took almost seven hours to reach Mumbai while the team took the old Mumbai-Pune Highway. Senior government officials said the Maharashtra Police had to create a green corridor to ferry the IAS officer back to Mumbai, where he was admitted to Bombay Hospital in an unconscious condition.

Doctors at Bombay Hospital had to struggle to remove blood clots from his body, officials said. His condition is now stable. Senior government officials said the Maharashtra Police had to create a green corridor to ferry the IAS officer back to Mumbai, where he was admitted to Bombay Hospital in an unconscious condition. An emergency corridor was created by the traffic police and the highway police, while the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital was alerted in advance. However, the team bringing Mr. Porwal back to Mumbai struggled manoeuvring through the heavy weekend traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. “It took almost seven hours to reach Mumbai while the team took the old Mumbai-Pune Highway. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway was completely choked, while the old highway was ridden with potholes,” said a senior official. Mr. Porwal was in June appointed the new ACS of the Home Department, taking over from the incumbent Sudhir Shrivastava, who was transferred to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) as chairman. Mr. Porwal, a 1983-batch IAS officer, was serving as ACS (Industries) before joining the Home Department. He is scheduled to retire in December 2018.
