A Mumbai businessman who impregnated his minor sister-in-law and kidnapped her in 2016 has been arrested by Thane's anti-human trafficking cell after two years. He was on the run with the minor who gave birth to a daughter last year. On September 13, Kiran Ahire, 26 was arrested for kidnapping his sister-in-law. Ahire who owns a small business in Mumbai is married to the minor's elder sister. In June 2016 his wife who was pregnant shifted temporarily to her maternal home in Dombivli for her delivery. Ahire, who would visit her often, started an affair with his sister-in-law who was 17-years-old back then. On June 5, 2016, he eloped with his her to Pune. There, they consummated their relationship. The girl's family lodged a kidnapping complaint against Ahire immediately. "He was always on the run; he would often keep changing his location between Pune and Mumbai," says investigating officer PSI Kalyani Patil, Thane police who was looking into the case. On September 13, Patil got information that Ahire with his sister-in-law and their one-year-old daughter was at Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) bus stand near Courtnaka, Thane west. "He was about to escape to another location when we caught him," says Patil. Ahire was immediately arrested and later handed over to Dombivli police where the case had been registered.
