Have you been finding messages from fast-food restaurants and their tele-marketers popping up with far more regularity in your inbox of late? You're not alone. Quick service restaurants (QSR) eateries are leaving nothing to chance to ensure what used to be a pricey affair is now well within your reach. From Cafe Coffee Day to Pizza Hut to McDonald's, these restaurants are all trying to ensure they are top of customers' minds when the latter thinks of ordering in. To this end, they are also trying to offer "super saver" menus, through which the QSRs' concept of "affordable luxury" is being extended to the customer. So, while customers had happily been spending between Rs 20 having a wada pav or a pav bhaji from a brand like Aaram or Cannon near CST, the fast-food chain restaurants have changed their menus to make the prices equally appealing. McDonald's and Pizza Hut, for instance, offer deals that allow patrons to eat for as little as Rs 65, or take advantage of a full meal for Rs 300. "Indian customers are price sensitive, and always seek value for money. The launch of McSaver combos was targeted at our patrons who seek value at their price points of choice. With McSaver combos, we empower them to choose their own meal options at attractive prices, starting at Rs 65. McSavers has been a great platform to drive footfalls, not just in tier II and III towns but also in metros," said a McDonald's spokesperson. Similarly, CCD also offers 24 items on its new menu at Rs 29 each, while a three-course combo starts at Rs 88. "The 'Totally Worth It' menu is designed to ensure a rich offering that every youngster can find affordable, satisfying and 'value for money'. It's curated to generate interest among a variety of people, and is packed with quality," said Venu Madhav, chief executive officer of CCD. "When it comes to Friday, the most awaited day of the week, we have a custom-made offer for our customers. Fridays are typically a day when you let your hair down and have unlimited fun. So we have our 'eat as much as you can' unlimited pizza Fridays," said Prashant Gaur, chief brand officer, Pizza Hut for the Indian sub-continent.
