MUMBAI: Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( MMRDA ) is chalking out plans to improve junctions on Western Express Highway (WEH) to ensure a “signal-free” corridor to ensure smooth movement of traffic.WEH is among the most congested arterial roads and situation has worsened between Andheri-Dahisar as roads have been barricaded for the Metro network.Metropolitan commissioner R A Rajeev said, “We are planning to rework the junctions with a signal-free concept. For example, at junctions, we can have an underpass that will allow smooth movement traffic for north-south and east-west traffic.”MMRDA will also put up signages across WEH and BKC so that motorists know the directions to take well in advance.Kurla resident Prasad V said, “We have to keep relying on Google Maps as signages are missing at crucial spots. This makes the driver to slow down, leading to bunching of traffic. I had been to Goa and I could use the bike to reach my destination without asking anyone for the way.
