( Source: File Photo) The Bombay High Court on Wednesday stayed a notification of the deputy commissioner, traffic control division, Pune, restricting the movement of private luxury buses in the city. The interim stay will be in force till November 26. A petition was moved by Konduskar Travels Pvt Limited, a Pune-based travel company, challenging the notification, dated October 26, 2018, by the deputy commissioner of police, traffic control division, Pune, restricting the movement of luxury buses. As per the notification, private luxury buses can ply only on four prescribed routes for exit to cities like Mumbai, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Solapur. It banned the movement of luxury buses on the routes from 8 in the morning till noon and from 5 in the evening till 9 at night. On Wednesday, Justice M S Karnik passed the order stating: “Considering the submissions advanced on behalf of the petitioner, there shall be ad-interim relief in terms of prayer Clause (c) till 26/11/2018.” Advocates Chaitanya Nikte and Prassana Patil, for the petitioner, told the court that the notification states that restrictions are imposed on private luxury bus operators. “However, the said notification is not made applicable to the state-run luxury buses, which is discriminatory for petitioner,” Nikte told the court. The petition said there are different kinds of buses carrying passengers to various destinations … every single day. “… they offer various types of fares for many different kinds of passengers in order to make their services affordable to the public at large and this makes the Petitioner one of the most preferred Travel Agent,” the petition said. The petitioner told the court that they own several Volvo buses and have permits from the state transport authority. The court has directed the state and Pune traffic police to file affidavits in response to the petition. With PTI For all the latest Mumbai News, download Indian Express App
