Mumbai: Cruise terminal to have light and sound show

Speaking at the event, Gadkari said, "We are anticipating employment for around 2.50 lakh people due to tourism generating of cruise tourism in the city alone, and are anticipating that international tourists will spend around 30,000 crore dollars in the coming years, and promoting coastal tourism is the only way out for boosting the economy." Gadkari added, "The city has a lot of potential, and the recently started Mumbai-Goa cruise is doing quite well, and this possible only because it has a lot of potential." Further, Gadkari also laid foundation stone for the eastern waterfront as in the coming months the MbPT is expecting a lot of movement at the recently renovated domestic cruise terminal at Princess Docks is Mazgaon due to several activities like that of Marina, walkway, cycle track, skating rink, amphitheatre are planned for boosting coastal tourism. Lastly, floating of bids for having ropeway between Sewri and Elephanta island was also announced. Adding that waterways have a lot of potential, Gadkari said, "Soon we are planning to connect the city with Navi Mumbai airport via waterways, and it has a lot of potential and is also environment-friendly. I have also suggested MbPT officials to have a light and sound show at domestic cruise terminal that will showcase the history of Mumbai." Meanwhile, Sanjay Bhatia, Chairman MbPT said, "In the coming years Mumbai will be known as the capital of sea tourism due to several activities of boosting coastal tourism being taken up by us. Major ports in the world when cities turned into metropolitan cities grew but when it comes to Mumbai that hasn't happened, and hence we are at the makeover phase currently.
