MUMBAI: Since 2013, more than 26,000 girls and women have gone missing from Mumbai, of whom 2,264 are yet to be traced. However, 2,264 of them are yet to be traced," said Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio.According to the reply, 5,056 minor girls were kidnapped or went missing from Mumbai during this period and of these 4,758 were found, while 298 are yet to be traced. Three different websites - www.trackthemissingchild.gov.in www.shodh.gov.in and toll free helpline 1098 have also been activated. This was told by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday in a written reply to a question raised by BJP MLA Mangalprabhat Lodha and others in the legislative assembly.Between 2013 to 2017, a total of 26,708 women, including 5,056 minor girls, had gone missing, out of which 24,444 were found. Similarly, a total of 21,652 women had gone missing of whom 19,686 have been traced and 1,966 women are still missing.The Chief Minister clarified that as per the Supreme Court (SC) directives given in May 2013, all missing complaints regarding minors should be registered as kidnapping and not missing.A standard operating procedure (SOP) has been prepared to trace missing persons and all the state police stations have been informed about it.
