Civic band enthralls people at Worli Seaface

MUMBAI: Evening walkers along Worli Seaface halted in their tracks Sunday, drawn by the irresistible lure of old Hindi film music . "Jain said that BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta had directed all wards to activate culture in public spaces. "We have few activities in South Mumbai, just Kala Ghoda Festival maybe. The aim is to make Mumbai's public spaces more vibrant. There is scope for doing more," he said.In similar vein, CM Devendra Fadnavis had formed the Mumbai Commission for Arts Music and Culture along the lines of the Delhi Urban Arts Commission.

MUMBAI: Evening walkers along Worli Seaface halted in their tracks Sunday, drawn by the irresistible lure of old Hindi film music . The local municipality organised the first of several open air performances where the 36-member BMC band performed an instrumental rendition of popular songs.Assistant municipal commissioner G South Devendra Jain said, "The Sunday crowd was pleasantly surprised by the show and watched them play from 4.00-6.30pm. We have invited the Navy and police bands also. In future we will host private bands, guitarists, numismatists, stamp collectors, exhibitions, paintings and handicrafts.
