Mumbai: In a first, Monorail sees influx of commuters

The MMRDA stated, "The Monorail has cumulatively carried 72,249 commuters on January 8, 9 and 10, 2019, that is, 30,295 more commuters as compared to the immediate previous three days on January 5, 6 and 7, 2019 when it carried 41,954 commuters." The daily ridership of about 12,000 to 15,000 people rose to around 25,000 as on Thursday; the MMRDA expects it to double with a footfall of 30,000 people by Friday. Further, the ridership of Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro-1 also went up resulting in additional 12 trips daily to cater to the increased crowd.
