Doctor, assistant made fake med reports to get LIC policies, held by Mumbai Crime Branch

The Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a doctor and his assistant for allegedly preparing bogus medical reports, which they later used to get LIC policies. The police also seized fake rubber stamps with the names of at least 14 doctors and medical centres. According to the police, they received a specific information about the doctor and his assistant preparing fake pre-medical reports at Dr Duggal Dattatraya Nursing Home in Vakola. "Prima facie it appears that the said documents were meant to dupe the insurance company," a police officer said. "We have seized a computer used to prepare the bogus reports, registers of various medical centres, bogus rubber stamps of various doctors and medical centres, and medical examination documents of 11 patients, which they (the accused) were planning to use to get LIC policies," Crime Branch Unit VIII, Inspector Arun Pokharkar said.

According to the police, they received a specific information about the doctor and his assistant preparing fake pre-medical reports at Dr Duggal Dattatraya Nursing Home in Vakola. Following this, the police conducted a raid at the nursing home on Monday. "We have seized a computer used to prepare the bogus reports, registers of various medical centres, bogus rubber stamps of various doctors and medical centres, and medical examination documents of 11 patients, which they (the accused) were planning to use to get LIC policies," Crime Branch Unit VIII, Inspector Arun Pokharkar said. "Prima facie it appears that the said documents were meant to dupe the insurance company," a police officer said.
