Jaipur: The king of fruits makes early entry in the market

Traders inform that this time a new kind of mango has come from Kerala and Telangana and therefore it has come early. This year the mangoes have arrived early in the city. Since the mangoes have just arrived in the market, the rates are high. Currently, about 3-4 tonnes mangoes have arrived in the city since a week and are being priced at Rs 100-120 per kg in wholesale market. NEW SUPPLYThis is usually not the time when the mangoes arrive and mostly it’s by end of March or first week of April that mango supply arrives in Jaipur.

There is a good news for lovers of mangoes. This year the mangoes have arrived early in the city. Since the mangoes have just arrived in the market, the rates are high. But as the season will progress, the rates will come down. Jaipur’s mandis are getting supply of Sinduri and Safeda varieties of mangoes. Currently, about 3-4 tonnes mangoes have arrived in the city since a week and are being priced at Rs 100-120 per kg in wholesale market. In retail, the mangoes are available at Rs 150-Rs 200 per kg. This is usually not the time when the mangoes arrive and mostly it’s by end of March or first week of April that mango supply arrives in Jaipur from various parts of the country. This has also come as a surprise to mango traders who are currently busy in estimating the demand of this fruit in this season. While summer is yet to arrive, winter season is still playing hide and seek with the people. On some day the temperature is low and on some days it becomes high giving the feel of a mix kind of weather condition. This is probably for the first time that mangoes have arrived in this kind of season. Traders inform that this time a new kind of mango has come from Kerala and Telangana and therefore it has come early. It’s expected that other varieties like Alphanso will start arriving in the market by March while varieties like langada and dussheri will come thereafter in April month. Usually the rates of mangoes remain high until the produce of langda-dussheri varieties from Uttar Pradesh arrive. It’s only after this harvest arrives that the rate of mangoes drop and it becomes affordable for all. This has also come as a surprise to mango traders who are currently busy in estimating the demand of fruit in season.
