1100 couples exchange vows at Thane mass wedding

SHAHAPUR: Nearly 1101 tribal couples, belonging to Hindu community , exchanged sacred vows and tied the nupital knot in a mass wedding ceremony held in Shahapura taluka of the Thane district in Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Thane guardian minister Eknath Shinde and MP Kapil Patil, along with other administrative officials, were present at the occasion and blessed the couples.The ceremonies were organised by MP Kapil Patil Foundation and Hindu Seva Sangh (Maharashtra) who last year also held a mass wedding of 501 couples. "It is a good effort and more such efforts should be made; it was great to have such support from the people," said a groom at the wedding.During the event, Fadnavis said that mass wedding is a very good concept and by such events will help poor people save their money.Fadnavis also paid tributes to the martyred soldiers.Meanwhile, the gathering, including the couple, paid homage to the martyrs who were killed in Thursday terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.
