Mum fire brigade releases alternative numbers

MUMBAI: Owing to the upgradation of the Mumbai Fire brigade's control room , people are likely to face problem in reaching the fire control helpline number 101 . A committee which was formed to investigate into the incident and suggest measures over the advancement of the fire brigade had then suggested series of measures. Fire officials said that this system would also ensure that the transmission time involved once a call is received and from when the fire control informs fire station gets nullified.The fire brigade has 256 fire vehicles and 34 fire stations all over Mumbai. Therefore in case of it, citizens have been asked to contact, on alternative numbers - 022 23085992/4 or the BMC disaster control room number 1916.As a part of upgrading the control room, the Mumbai fire brigade plans to introduce an integrated command and control system which they feel would help to reduce the time taken to attend to fire calls in the city further.An integrated command control system would ensure several advancements in the fire services for example once a fire call is logged with the fire control room the fire station nearest to the incident site would be automatically alerted about it. Apart from it, there are six command centres.It may be recollected that during the fire at Gokul Niwas at Kalabdevi in 2015 wherein four senior civic officials had lost their lives fire vehicles trying to reach the spot had to face several difficulties on account of it being fully congested.
