The duo was operating a bogus firm named 'Aggarwal All India Packers and Movers' after a similar sounding registered firm. A complaint was received by the police from HC Lalnaghakanniani, wife of a coast guard officer who opted the accused's services to transport her Mahindra Scorpio (MH 05 AJ 6162) to her family friend Lallubhau Anna at Guwahati. "The complainant when contacted the firm was told that the car shall be delivered to the destination within a week. On February 18, the duo reached left with the vehicle after giving her a receipt of Rs 33,806 as transportation charge. After 15 days, when the vehicle did not reach Guwahati, the complainant went to the office in Navi Mumbai only to learn that the address was fake and her vehicle was stolen," said a police officer. Ramankumar and Vikas were apprehended from Navi Mumbai. Both are residents of Haryana. "We have recovered four cars which were stolen using the similar modus operandi. The duo has been booked under section 407, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. We are ascertaining whether more people are involved in this and how many more vehicles have been stolen so far. The duo has similar cases registered at Dindoshi and Nagpada police stations," the officer added.
