Bollywood actor and Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar has said there is a threat to her life, after accusing the BJP of disrupting her rally by sending its “goons”. Her remarks come following a visit to Borivali station on Monday, when youngsters at the platform started chanting PM Modi's name. There was also a fight between Congress and BJP supporters, after which she said she is seeking police protection. "BJP had sent goons to disturb the campaign, an indication that it's losing ground," she told mediapersons later. "It is being done to create fear. It is just the beginning, it will take a violent turn. I have asked for police protection. There's a threat to my life, I have filed a complaint." BJP minister Vinod Tawde, however, denied the allegations and said it's clear from the video clip that later went viral that those chanting Modi's name were youngsters, possibly collegians from the neighbourhood. He rejected Matondkar's claims. "Even during Rahul Gandhi's programme a few days ago, youngsters were chanting Modi's name. Rahul didn't even object to it. While joining Congress, Matondkar had said freedom of expression is being suppressed in the country. But she herself wants to suppress youngsters from chanting Modi's name. Also, why did she keep quiet when Congress workers beat up the youngsters who were supporting the PM?" Tawde asked. (With inputs from ANI)
