Lawyer says University of Mumbai declared neta PA's result in a day

The University of Mumbai has the dubious recognition of delaying re-evaluation results. However, an advocate has alleged along with supporting documents that a student who miserably failed his examination was declared passed in a single day after revaluation on April 1. Advocate Sandeep Kedare has written to the registrar that Amol Gavali was favoured as he is the personal assistant of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane. Gavali has refuted the allegations while speaking with DNA. As per the University's calendar, the revaluation application for the said exam was supposed to be submitted between April 1 and April 8. The applicants were then supposed to know the revaluation results within 45 days. The LLM semester I exam took place in January and its results were declared on March 26. In the aforesaid result, Gavali failed in "The Indian Constitutional Law: The New Challenges" paper securing only 10 marks. However, when Gavali applied for revaluation on the first day of submitting an application the revaluation showed him as 'passed' with 48 marks. However, Gavali is claiming innocence and denies reports that he was favoured over others. "I don't remember the dates of application for revaluation or revaluation result. It might be possible as I wrote my paper in Marathi language and there are very few students who write their exam in Marathi," reasoned Gavali. University officials are claiming that expedited evaluations are the order of the day. "This student might have got a form for revaluation application from his department before 1 April. As soon as he applied for revaluation the papers might have got uploaded and the paper checker might have been available to check the papers as they are uploaded for On-Screen Marking. Nowadays results are declared even in five days," said Vinod Malale, deputy registrar, exam department. An LLM student DNA spoke to agreed in anonymity that such efficiency was never witnessed before. Advocate Sandeep Kedare, said, "I have written to MU authorities to conduct an inquiry in this case, as it raises a lot of doubts."
