The collector stated that as per rule 49 MA of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, the voter was asked to record a test vote in presence of the election officers.

"A case in the matter will act as a deterrent as no other person will dare to make such false claims," Ram said after polling for the Pune and Baramati constituencies got over on Tuesday. According to Ram, the incident took place at a polling booth situated in Shivajinagar Assembly constituency. "The person complained that he pressed the button on the EVM to vote for a particular candidate but it went to some other candidate. After our officials received the complaint, we took cognisance of it and found out the truth about his complaint," Ram said. The collector stated that as per rule 49 MA of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, the voter was asked to record a test vote in presence of the election officers. "As per the rules, we had to record his test vote in presence of election officers to verify his complaint. When he recorded his test vote, his claim was proven false," Ram said.
