Will Maratha quota be applied to degree course admissions: Mumbai University to higher education dept

Nitin Pandharkame, undersecretary, higher education, said, "We will hold a meeting with the officials of the Department of Higher Education and then, decide if the Maratha quota will be implemented for MU's degree course admissions." The varsity asked if the Maratha quota will be applicable for degree courses. We are following up with officials from the higher education department. The MU, prior to starting its pre-online admission registration process, wrote to the higher education department to know if the Maratha quota will be implemented this year, for degree courses provided by the varsity. The MU's pre-online admission registration process may start soon after the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examination results are declared.

After the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court to make provisions under Maratha Reservations inapplicable for admissions to postgraduate medical and dental courses in 2019-20, the Mumbai University (MU) wrote to the higher and technical education department of the Mantralaya to get clarity on the issue. The varsity asked if the Maratha quota will be applicable for degree courses. The MU's pre-online admission registration process may start soon after the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examination results are declared. The MU, prior to starting its pre-online admission registration process, wrote to the higher education department to know if the Maratha quota will be implemented this year, for degree courses provided by the varsity. Until now, the HSC results have not been declared. Officials from the MU said, "We are still waiting for a reply from the authority. We are following up with officials from the higher education department. The MU will start the pre-online admission registration process only two days after the HSC board exam results are declared."
