Maharashtra: Cabinet reshuffle likely ahead of Monsoon Session

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided to carry out the major cabinet reshuffle ahead of the state assembly's monsoon session and state poll scheduled in October 2019. This will be the last reshuffle ahead of Monsoon Session and the state Assembly polls. However, CM Fadnavis has not taken final call over it, " said sources close to CM.

With the desire to face the upcoming polls with fresh, young and non-controversial ministerial faces Chief Minister of Maharashtra has decided to carry out a major cabinet rejig before the state assembly's monsoon session. CM Fadnavis recently met BJP party president Amit Shah to seek his go ahead on the rejig. The major Maharashtra cabinet rejig is likely to happen soon. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided to carry out the major cabinet reshuffle ahead of the state assembly's monsoon session and state poll scheduled in October 2019. Fadnavis wants to face the state polls with fresh, young and non-controversial faces of ministers. "In this rejig, the non-performing faces will be shown the door while hard working and efficient ministers will be promoted. This will be the last reshuffle ahead of Monsoon Session and the state Assembly polls. The chief minister is very much confident of coming back again in power in the state by repeating the Lok Sabha result," according to a BJP functionary. BJP also intends to win more seats than ally Shivsena in order to retain the CM post. Sources also confirmed that former Leader of Opposition (LoP) Radha Krishna Vikhe Patil who recently joined BJP will be also inducted in Fadnavis cabinet. The other names that are making rounds are BJP Mumbai President Ashish Shelar who performed well during the BMC and state polls and is also an Amit Shah confidante. The controversial housing minister Prakash Mehta is likely to be shown the door. However, this act may hurt the Gujarati community who stood steadfast with BJP during the Lok Sabha elections. Sources said that along with Radha Krishna Vikhe Patil, more than four Congress MLA's are in touch with the BJP leadership to switch sides. "Besides estranged BJP leader, Eknath Khadse, who was asked to resign following Pune MIDC land controversy is also eyeing to come back as a cabinet minister. However, CM Fadnavis has not taken final call over it, " said sources close to CM.
