DNA EXCLUSIVE: Maharashtra govt calls for ban on construction in red and blue floodline areas

These DCRs envisage ban on construction in the area between the blue flood line and red floodline. Redevelopment projects in these areas may be permitted at a height of 0.45 m above the red floodline level. Areas between the blue floodline and red flood line will be a restrictive zone for construction purposes. Any construction within this area may be permitted at a height of 0.45 m above the red floodline level. He informed that these regulations will be applicable to all construction projects, including change in design or making alterations to a building.Further, construction projects within 30 metre from the railway boundary will require a no-objection certificate from the Railways.
