Ahead of the Maharashtra state assembly elections, the Nationalist Congress Party has decided to expose the Shiv Sena by running a drive to spot the potholes and tag to BMC on social media. Nawab Malik, the NCP Mumbai unit president and spokesperson said that the Mumbai city is full of potholes. "BMC spends the huge amount of its fund on the constructions of road and repairing the potholes. As per the recent BMC record, they spent Rs 17,000 on each pothole. This is nothing but looting the honest tax payers. We want to park close them by running spot the potholes and post to the BMC's official Twitter handle," Malik said. He said that, earlier in Right to Information, the BMC claimed that in Mumbai there are only 450 potholes while in A-Ward, Colaba and Nariman Point area there are mere five potholes. "We were shocked when we saw this information. The BMC blatantly misusing the public money without any proper services. Our hash tag will be #MumbaiPotholes #KhadekaAadda. We also appeal the common people to participate in this drive," said Malik. He said that earlier the BMC claimed that within the 24 hours, they will attend the potholes. "We want to see how much the BMC is efficient when it comes to providing services to common people. Besides, we will also keep the audit of this drive. In the end of each week, we will count how many potholes are attended by the BMC or not," Malik added. Malik alleged that the BMC is the den of the corruptions. "From the construction of the roads to attending the monsoon potholes, in every initiative that they take, there is corruption. There is syndicate between the road contractors , BMC officers and the ruling party leaders. They are charging high taxes but in return nothing has been provided. We demand the third party audit of each work of the BMC."
