BJP on late Wednesday evening released the second list of 14 candidates, but without names of veterans Eknath Kadse, Prakash Mehta, Vinod Tawde, Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Raj Purohit. The party also hasn't announced nominees for Colaba, Borivali, Ghatkopar East and Versova in Mumbai. The party has renominated Minister of state Sanjay Beghade from Maval seat while former NCP leader Namita Mundada has been given ticket in Maval and former Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi leader Gopichand Padalkar in Baramati constituency Differences between the BJP's top leadership are believed to have delayed the release of the party's second list for the Maharashtra Assembly election. A section of party leaders led by city unit chief Mangal Prabhat Lodha has reportedly taken strong objection to nominate sitting legislator Raj Purohit but has recommended NCP legislator Rahul Narvekar for the party ticket from Colaba seat in south Mumbai. State unit president Chandrakant Patil met senior leaders to take stock of the situation and find a way out. However, sources said the leaders failed to arrive at a unanimous conclusion, and thereafter Patil left for Pune to file his nomination from Kothrud. Purohit hopes to see his name in the second list. Has ‘Rift’ With CN Cost Tawde His Seat? BJP on Tuesday announced a list of 125 candidates, dropping 12 sitting MLAs, including some big names Tawde, surprised to find his name missing in the first list, met Patil on the same on Wednesday Party sources hinted rift between CM Fadnavis and Tawde seems to have led to Tawde not finding place in the first list However, his name didn’t figure in the second list of candidates put out by the party on Wednesday The party in its first list announced 125 nominees who will contest in the upcoming Assembly elections on October 21. BJP veterans including Eknath Khadse, Prakash Mehta, Vinod Tawde, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Raj Purohit have been put on waiting. Party renominated 92 sitting legislators but has denied tickets to nine legislators. Of the 36 seats in Mumbai, BJP has 17 in its quota while 19 are for Shiv Sena. Of the 17 seats, the party has declared candidates for 12 seats. It is yet to declare whether it will contest for the rest five or leave some to allies. Similarly, BJP is yet to make it clear whether it will leave 18 or 14 seats to allies including the Republican Party of India (Athavale), Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, Shiv Sangram and Rayat Kranti Sanghtana. Khadse, who has already filed his nomination on Tuesday in Muktainagar constituency, is furious for not clearing his name in the first list. Feeling betrayed by the treatment, Khadse, while speaking to his supporters on Wednesday said he had worked hard for the party's growth in the last four decades and had never thought of quitting it despite lucrative offers from several parties. Khadse had reportedly rejected the party's offer to field his daughter instead of him. Party is completely divided over the renomination of Khadse who had resigned as minister in 2016 in the wake of corruption charges.
