Aaditya Thackeray's nomination from Worli assembly constituency has given the seat a VIP status, however, a new addition of Abhijeet Bichukale, in the nomination list has added zing to the fight here. Though Bichukale's entry may not cause much of a stir in the EVM machines and Thackeray's vote share may not get affected, but the new entrant has given a new lease of life to WhatsApp groups of locals in the Worli region. The reason being that Bichukale has gained quite a popularity amongst the Marathi speaking crowd, who saw him for months together on the popular reality show Marathi Bigg Boss. Bichukale is not only known for his stint with reality TV but also for unsuccessfully contesting several elections including fighting for the post of President of India. He has never got more than 2,000 votes in any election. However, he is popular among his fans as 'Kavimanacha Neta'. When asked about his nomination from Worli he says, "My Mama (maternal uncle), stayed at BDD chawls in Worli, I have a lot of people here and am known to Worli. When I could fight against Udayanraje Bhosale, the heir of Shivaji Maharaj, then why can't I fight against Aaditya Thackeray. Mumbai is mine too, and on October 24, when the results will be out, you will see the defeat of Aaditya." There was a buzz too that he many withdraw his nomination from Worli, as he is contesting from Satara and his wife has filed nomination against Bhosale for the Lok Sabha by polls. "I will not withdraw the candidature and we will fight the elections with full vigour." While Bichukale hasn't won any elections including the show that made him popular, people in Worli have started circulating various memes of his. A local of Worli's koliwada said, "He (Bichukale) has become an option for many who aren't politically aware or the undecided and were going to press the NOTA button of the EVM. At least that is what some people are saying on their WhatsApp groups." Though there are others who also claim that when they would see Bichukale campaign in their area, they would ask him, how will he work for the development of Worli while he is a Satara resident himself. There are around 10 independent candidates who have filed their nomination from Worli and remaining 10 from various political parties. One of the serious opposition to Thackeray is from Nationalist Congress Party's Suresh Mane, and there are also candidates from parties like Sambhaji Brigade, Bahujan Samaj Party among others.
