In a not-so-veiled attack on the BJP, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said he did not agree with "the misuse of power for politics of vendetta". Uddhav said this in an interview to Sanjay Raut, Rajya Sabha MP and executive editor of the party mouthpiece Saamna. He claimed that despite being in power in Maharashtra for the past five years, the party was not in authority. Coming to the issue at hand, the Metro carshed at Aarey Milk Colony, Uddhav said that Sena was not opposed to the project, but to the location. Metro is needed, development is needed, but this does not mean we should lose something more precious," he said.

In a not-so-veiled attack on the BJP, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said he did not agree with "the misuse of power for politics of vendetta". Charging that the Sena believed in a frontal attack, Uddhav said the party had never stabbed the BJP in the back and had taken a position against the state government, of which it was a part, in the interest of the people. Uddhav said this in an interview to Sanjay Raut, Rajya Sabha MP and executive editor of the party mouthpiece Saamna. The interview was carried in the newspaper on Tuesday. In the interaction, Uddhav said that while the Sena was fighting the state polls in an alliance with the BJP, the party must aim at fighting on all 288 seats. "To put it frankly, power and authority must never be misused. I am of the opinion that no one should rule with a vendetta," said Uddhav, while adding that in 2000 (when the Congress-NCP alliance was in power in Maharashtra), his father, the late Sena chief Bal Thackeray, was arrested for inflammatory writings in Saamna. "I do not know about the ED (Enforcement Directorate), but the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) is being used for political ends for a while. What was sown yesterday, is growing today," charged Uddhav in a swipe at the Congress and NCP. He claimed that despite being in power in Maharashtra for the past five years, the party was not in authority. Coming to the issue at hand, the Metro carshed at Aarey Milk Colony, Uddhav said that Sena was not opposed to the project, but to the location. "The opposition is not of the Sena alone, but that of Mumbaikars. No Mumbaikar should ever consider it the personal issue of the party. Metro is needed, development is needed, but this does not mean we should lose something more precious," he said.
