India's third coronavirus death reported from Mumbai

The third death in India from the coronavirus was reported on Tuesday in Maharashtra's Mumbai after a 64-year-old man, who was tested positive for the infection died at Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai. The minister, however, said that "It is not possible to say now that the man who died at Kasturba Hospital today, died due to #Coronavirus. "The death of 63-year-old male patient admitted at Kasturba Hospital is confirmed. He tested positive for COVID-19," Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai said. At 39, Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of confirmed cases of coronavirus.

According to officials, the man had returned from Dubai and was being treated at the hospital. Rajesh Tope, Minister of Public Health & Family Welfare, Maharashtra confirmed the death. "We sent his samples for test which turned out to be positive. He died at 7 AM today," he said, adding that "he was admitted at Kasturba Hospital on March 5 & he had hid some details from us, including that he had come from Dubai. But we grew suspicious on March 13." The minister, however, said that "It is not possible to say now that the man who died at Kasturba Hospital today, died due to #Coronavirus. We are waiting for the report." "The death of 63-year-old male patient admitted at Kasturba Hospital is confirmed. He had high blood pressure, pneumonia & inflammation of heart muscles and increased heart rate leading to death. He tested positive for COVID-19," Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai said. At 39, Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of confirmed cases of coronavirus. It is followed by Kerala at 22. By 2 PM on March 17, the number of confirmed cases in India stands at 131, forcing the government to step up the efforts to place the country in a near-total lockdown with states across the country shutting down schools, colleges, parks, gyms and public gatherings.
