Mumbai: A bomb threat was made to the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Colaba and the Taj Lands End hotel in Bandra in Mumbai, Maharashtra from Pakistan on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The caller, who identified himself as a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit, threatened to blow-up the two hotels in Mumbai. Security has been beefed up at and around the hotels following the threatening calls from Pakistan.

The first call received at around 12:30 am by the Taj Mahal palace staffers. The call was from a Pakistani number. The caller identified himself as a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and said that the hotel would be attacked by their members. He said the Taj Mahal Palace and Taj Lands End hotels would be blown up as it happened in November 2008. The second call was received by the staffers at the Taj Lands End hotel in Bandra. The caller, from Pakistan, threatened to blow up the hotel in a similar manner. Both the calls were received from the same numbers.

Though the hotels remain shut for operation presently due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown, the Mumbai Police has beefed up the security around the hotels and all possible measures are being taken to secure the area. The cyber cell has been roped in to further investigate the call and the help of telecom departments is being sought to investigate the location of the call. The calls were made on a day Pakistan Stock Exchange building in Karachi was attacked by four terrorists on Monday, killing four security personnel.
