A 38-Year-old accused man arrested in Andheri for allegedly raping his daughter. He has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act since the girl was minor.

That a young girl was raped by her father, isn’t a one-off incident. In every 15 minutes a rape happens, ample reports augment the fact that safety at home is often compromised.

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data from 2018 claims that every fourth victim of rape in India was a minor while in 94 percent of cases, the assailant was known to the victim. In 2019, the total crime rate against women increased from 58.8 to 62.4 percent.
