LUCKNOW: A 57-year-old man out for morning walk at 5am went missing under mysterious circumstances in Gomtinagar on Monday. Sharad Tandon, officiating general manager (personnel and administration) at Parag left his Vineet Khand house in the morning as usual. However, when he did not return till 8am, his family grew worried.

When his wife tried to call him, Tandon`s phone was found switched off. She immediately alerted her in-laws who reached the house and began making calls to all the of Tandon`s acquaintances. Tandon had taken a weeklong leave from office and was to resume work on Monday.

"He was suffering from a stomach infection and was undergoing treatment," said circle officer of Gomtinagar area, Ashok Kumar. His younger brother Shekhar and older brother Subhash arrived at the house on learning about the sudden disappearance. Shekhar stayed at Rajendra Nagar while Subhash stayed nearby at Virat Khand.

Tandon has two sons who are settled. "While his older son works for Mahindra and Mahindra at Mumbai, the younger one is sailing at present with Shipping Corporation of India," said Shekhar. Tandon usually took the road opposite Jaipuria school and used to walk all the way up to Husadia crossing and back every day.

He left in a tee shirt and shorts wearing flip flops. His kin checked the route and also made enquiries. They spoke to others in the locality who also went on walks.

"But nothing concrete came out," added Shekhar. The kin then informed police. Kumar said a case under kidnapping charges had been lodged and efforts to trace Tandon were on.

"He never discussed professional issues at home and his spouse could not pinpoint if he was in stress," added Kumar. Tandon got to know on Friday that another person had been posted in his position and he might be transferred. Kumar said that Tandon`s colleagues and seniors will be quizzed on Tuesday to find out whether the replacement was part of the routine transfer or something more than that.

His last known location was Dalibagh in Hazratganj area..
