Dealing with issues of development in their sectors, residents of sectors 76 -80 met on Monday to bring find a solution to the problem. The residents attributed the poor state of parks, streetlights and roads, absence of a proper sewer system and encroachments on government land to the neglect shown by the authorities. Chief organiser of the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), Narinder Singh Kang, told the residents that a delegation had recently met the Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), who had directed his subordinates to look into the matter.

“After we met GMADA officials, a team came to take stock of the situation. This area has been neglected since 10 years as the land here has been involved in litigation since 2001. After the high court stayed acquisition of 102 acres of land here, the authorities ignored the area,” said Kang.

RWA chairman, G S Shergill, welcomed GMADA’s decision of launching an anti-encroachment drive in the area. .
