PU LLB paper leaked, re-examination on July 12

The same day student bodies started levelling allegations of paper leak. According to Goyal, the committee reached the conclusion the paper was leaked.

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University (PU) on Monday announced it would re-conduct the entrance test for the three-year LLB course on July 12, confirming charges that the paper was leaked around three weeks ago. The university, in a statement, said the test would be conducted on PU campus, Chandigarh, and regional centres of Muktsar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur from 10 am to 11.30 am.

The statement, however, added, "The decision was taken due to administrative reasons." But dean student welfare Navdeep Goyal had a different version. "We had formed a committee to look into the allegations and found them to be true.

So, we decided to re-conduct the exam." On June 9, as many as 3,511 candidates appeared for the test at 14 centres. The same day student bodies started levelling allegations of paper leak.

According to Goyal, the committee reached the conclusion the paper was leaked. "The committee had also taken the views of students who had appeared for the test and some students had also sent emails highlighting the paper was leaked," said Goyal. However, university officials declined to comment on who leaked the paper and whether the accused were identified.

Meanwhile, according to the university statement, the roll numbers and centres of examination would remain the same. Students could download their admit cards again from the website http://pglaw.puchd.

ac.in/. E-admit cards would be available on the website from July 9.

There will be no physical communication for this purpose, said the statement. According to PU student leaders, thousands of students would face inconvenience. "The paper leak reflects the poor examination management by PU.

The university needs to take some strict steps to avoid a repeat of such incident," said PUSU president Satwinder Singh. PU had postponed the corporate accounts exam of B.Com second year, which was held on April 9, 2010, following allegations of paper leak.

The exam was held again on May 3, 2010..
