Maluka calls for collective strategy to combat drug menace

Speaking at a function to release the July edition of the Sade Pind magazine at Vikas Bhawan, Maluka said that in the battle against drug addiction, both government and non-government agencies must come together. He also emphasised the role of magazines and literature and said Sade Pind had a wide reach among people in rural areas. The protesters said they had organised a march from Phase 8 to Phase 5 to ‘seek justice’.

Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, Sikander Singh Maluka, on Thursday emphasised the need for launching a strategy to tackle the drug menace. Speaking at a function to release the July edition of the Sade Pind magazine at Vikas Bhawan, Maluka said that in the battle against drug addiction, both government and non-government agencies must come together. He also emphasised the role of magazines and literature and said Sade Pind had a wide reach among people in rural areas.

Punjab teachers’ union protests Members of the Punjab Inclusive Education Resource Teachers (IERT) union held a candle light march on Thursday evening to protest against the state education authorities for failing to pay heed to their demands. The protesters said they had organised a march from Phase 8 to Phase 5 to ‘seek justice’. Union leader Rajat Ahuja said they have been demanding a regular pay scale and other benefits, which were promised earlier but not delivered.

Mohali SSP asks people to help cops fight drugs Mohali SSP Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti on Thursday held a meeting regarding drug awareness with public representatives including members of Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs), ex-councillors and leaders of other welfare associations. Bhatti appealed to assist the police in its fight against the drug menace. “The objective of the police is not to harass drug victims but to help them,” he said.
