JDA takes possession of land on Sikar Road

The JDA has acquired the land in 2002-03. However, the possession was not taken from the farmers and they continued to grow vegetables on the land. The farmers alleged that they are protesting as JDA has not provided them compensation.

JAIPUR: Amid protest, the enforcement team of Jaipur Development Authority took possession of nearly 72 bigha land acquired for extension of Ramlya wala dairy scheme on Sikar road. The JDA has acquired the land in 2002-03. However, the possession was not taken from the farmers and they continued to grow vegetables on the land.

"As possibilities of violent protest were high, we have deployed around 400 policemen. However, the drive was carried out peacefully," said a JDA official. The farmers alleged that they are protesting as JDA has not provided them compensation.

"As per the rules, the JDA should provide 15 % developed land to the farmers. In this case, the JDA has only provided 15% land," said a farmer..
