Cycle-borne student seriously injured in hit-and-run case

On July 11, Amar Kumar, a resident of Jagatpura Colony was hit by a pilot Gypsy when, all of a sudden, he came on the road through which a convoy was passing.

MOHALI: In yet another hit-and-run case in the city within a week, an 18-year-old youth sustained serious injuries on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place around 1.30 pm when Anish Kumar, a school student, was returning home from Kamla Market, Sector 56, Mohali, when a rashly driven car bearing Gurgaon commercial number hit his cycle from behind and fled from the spot.

The youth was seriously injured. Local residents called the police and rushed him to the civil hospital immediately where he is being treated. An FIR has not been registered as parents of the injured are yet to file a complaint.

Meanwhile, a police official said: "We are tracing the whereabouts of the vehicle and will soon nab the accused." This is the third cyclist to be injured in a hit-and-run case in the city in less than a week. On July 11, Amar Kumar, a resident of Jagatpura Colony was hit by a pilot Gypsy when, all of a sudden, he came on the road through which a convoy was passing.

The cops had not stopped the vehicle after hitting the victim. Later, police officials said that they were confused as to how he came before the convoy. A day before, on July 10, a woman was hit by a mini truck in Jagatpura.

Bimla Devi and her husband were on their way to work when the accident happened. In all these cases, the police are yet to trace the vehicles and eyewitnesses have told the police that the vehicles were being rashly driven..
