JAIPUR: Ahead of the state government`s camp in Udaipur in August, the health department has swung into action for a facelift of the healthcare facilities in government-run hospitals. During Bikaner and Bharatpur camps, some doctors and paramedical staff were sent on awaiting posting orders (APO) for not following duty rules and orders, while others received praise. Now, the health department has alerted the officials and doctors in Udaipur division to be prepared for inspections by the health minister and other senior health department officials.

"In August, the state government will inspect Udaipur division. Hence, all chief medical and health officials are directed to keep hospitals neat and clean including wards," a direction issued by the health department said. Recently when health minister Rajendra Rathore inspected Bikaner`s district government hospital, he had expressed concern over the lack of cleanliness.

Later, more than 20 truckloads of garbage were disposed of from the hospital premises. Now, the health department has informed officials in Udaipur division to remain prepared for the inspections. They have also been directed to repair and paint furniture, hospital building, put up proper signage and maintain equipment.

During camps, the health minister inspect hospitals, including primary health centres, community health centres and sub centres in rural areas. Officials also check cleanliness, stock of free medicines, attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, and they also interact with the patients to know about the kind of medical facilities they are getting in that particular hospital or healthcare centre. Keeping such inspections in view, the health department directed the officials to maintain the stock of medicines in the hospital apart from proper maintenance and cleanliness of the hospital.

"In the Udaipur division, a cabinet meeting is proposed. In this regard, the demand of medicines should be sent at the earliest so that the Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation could take appropriate action," the direction from the health department said. The department also gave the responsibility to its joint director in Udaipur division to keep an eye on the preparations for inspections.
