DAVV employees sport black ribbons to protest against inter-varsity transfer

The move is a breach of universities` autonomy. We will protest against the move by wearing black ribbons at work. Recently, the state higher education department presented an amendment in MP Universities Act 1973 which will allow inter-university transfers and deputation of employees as well as teaching staff.

INDORE: Angry over the state higher education department`s proposed tweaking act that pave way for inter-varsity transfer of employees and teaching staff, the employees of Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) on Monday work black ribbons on their sleeves as a mark of protest. Member of association at DAVV, Lakshman Shinde said that a meeting of MP Universities Teachers Association will be convened to decide the future course of action on the matter. The move is a breach of universities` autonomy.

We will protest against the move by wearing black ribbons at work. Recently, the state higher education department presented an amendment in MP Universities Act 1973 which will allow inter-university transfers and deputation of employees as well as teaching staff. The department has come up with the decision to bring the amendment under the ambit of Act citing reasons of better coordination and administration in state universities.

The other reason is that state universities have failed to fill the vacant posts. The amendment will empower the state government to appoint teachers and employees through a standardized procedure..
