Doctors within borders: Taking medical help to tribal areas in state

These doctors will provide free medical check-ups to about three lakh individuals in Nadurbar and its adjoining areas. A number of health experts — about 3,000 of them from Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and other cities — have emerged as a ray of hope in the state's tribal areas. He said a mega health camp was organised in Nashik on January 1, with 1.60 lakh patients benefiting from it. The medical experts will also identify patients who require surgery. State Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan said people in Nandurbar do not have access to medical check-ups due to a lack of financial resources.

A number of health experts — about 3,000 of them from Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and other cities — have emerged as a ray of hope in the state's tribal areas. These doctors will provide free medical check-ups to about three lakh individuals in Nadurbar and its adjoining areas. People in backward areas grapple with an acute shortage of well-trained specialists. The camp will also provide treatment for cancer, respiratory diseases, skin diseases, urine-related issues, paediatric problems, heart ailment, eye disorders, general surgeries and gynaecological issues. Surgeries will also be performed if there is an urgent need for it. The medical experts will also identify patients who require surgery. State Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan said people in Nandurbar do not have access to medical check-ups due to a lack of financial resources. Mahajan said the camp will be held at Nadurbar's Modi Ground on April 30 (today), and will start at 10 am. "The state government wants to reach out to the tribal populace by extending the best possible health services. Similar camps will be organised across the state," said Mahajan. He said a mega health camp was organised in Nashik on January 1, with 1.60 lakh patients benefiting from it. Mahajn also said the patients will be able to undergo surgeries, free of cost, for four to six months. Renowned surgeons from reputed private hospitals in Mumbai, Pune and other cities, along with experts from various government hospitals will provide treatment.
