MCC to clear blocked underground drains round the clock

Now, with the onset of the rainy season, the number of complaints have spiked to an average of 110 a day.The corporation has 212 UGD maintenance workers, 12 jetting machines, 23 roding machines and 13 desilting machines, but will now ensure at least two jetting machines and a few roding and desilting machines are at the ready to tackle issues in the night. Each jetting machine is manned by a minimum of 6 workers and workers have been provided with walkie-talkies so that they can be reached in the night.“Earlier if there were any UGD complaints during the night, people used to wait till morning but that will be a thing of the past,” K H Jagadish, commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation, told TOI. “To address such issues round the clock we have deployed staff during night as well.
