69-year-old hangs himself at lodge, leaves cheque for last rites

MYSURU: A 69-year-old retired government employee who was reportedly suffering from several ailments hanged himself at a lodge in Srirangapatna on Wednesday. He checked into a lodge in Srirangapatna on Tuesday and allegedly committed suicide a day later. Ramakrishna, who used to work with the energy department, reportedly feared that he would become a burden on his family. He left a cheque for Rs 40,000 for his last rites and instructions on how they should be performed and by who.Police said the senior citizen , identified as Ramakrishna, was a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in Mysuru. “He wanted well-known priest Bhanuprakash Sharma to perform the last rites.
