Woman, paramour get life sentence for killing husband

MYSURU: A city court on Thursday sentenced a woman, and her paramour , along with two others, to life imprisonment, for allegedly murdering the woman's husband in a case dating back to February 2015.Public prosecutor HD Anandkumar, who tried the case, told TOI that, despite lack of physical evidence - the body of the victim, Kumar of Bidaragudu, the court was convinced that Kumar's wife Geetha is involved in the murder.Kumar's body was allegedly cremated by his family who was initially reluctant to approach police because Geetha had threatened them that she would kill her child. However, a month later, Kumar's sister's husband Basavaraj lodged a police complaint, stating the former was killed on February 18, 2015.Initially, his complaint was turned down owing to lack of evidence. However, Basavaraj later approached the Mysuru superintendent of police, and sought a probe into the case.Geetha was allegedly in a relationship with Biligiri, a neighbor prior to her marriage. "She continued her relationship even after she married Kumar, who was not too happy with it. Upset with the state of affairs, Geetha hatched a plan to have Kumar killed," a source said.Biligiri subsequently organised a liquor party, and invited Kumar, and his two friends - Puttaraju and Rangashetty.The trio allegedly got Kumar extremely drunk, and in the wee hours of February 18, 2015, they fatally assaulted him with a bicycle chain.
